Shotcrete Shoring
Shotcrete shoring consists of anchors with a shotcrete facing that can be used for vertical excavations or for slope stabilization measures. Shotcrete shoring applies the principles of reinforced anchors designed to stabilize the soil/rock mass with a meshed shotcrete facing to tie the system together to distribute the anchor loads and control soil loss.
As a leader in shotcrete systems, HC Matcon contributed to the advent of shotcrete shoring usage in the Ontario market. HC Matcon was one of the first companies in Ontario to produce shotcrete shoring results that match the performance of caisson wall systems next to buildings. By eliminating design redundancies, as well as vertical elements that are employed in traditional shoring systems, HC Matcon has been able to achieve comparable horizontal movement controls in their shotcrete systems.
The practice of shotcrete results in a sustainable shoring solution while reducing construction costs.
Advantages of shotcrete systems:
- Eliminate or reduce the need to design formwork for internal pressures.
- Eliminate need to patch form ties, fin lines etc. related to formed construction.
- Complex shapes easily accommodated with minimal or no formwork.
- Elimination of crane lifts related to concrete placement and delivery – HCM Shotcrete utilizes tow behind concrete pump equipment for all concrete placement requirements.
- High compressive strength, durability, fire retardation, low permeability. excellent bond to a variety of substrates (wood, steel, existing concrete).
- Full access and visibility of wall elements before and during concreting. Easy verification of reinforcing and concrete placement.
- Highly adaptable and cost-effective repair of hard to access, overhead, vertical, and curved surfaces.
