ellisdon_0As this project winds down I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks for the excellent safety performance demonstrated by Justin Moore and Shawn Vanderploeg and all of the HC Matcon site personnel.
They conducted themselves in a very professional manner at all times and there was never an issue when it came to performing their work in a safe manner. Justin and Shawn lead by example and their safety documentation was amongst the best I’ve seen. Please forward my appreciate for their efforts.

Dear Mr. Rowe and Ms. Fontaine

SAIT-logoSAIT-logoI want to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for taking time out of your schedule to meet our students and to show this year’s Civil 252 class your shoring project. The explanations of the processes and complications involved in making shoring happen provides the class with real on-site examples of their studies. In my opinion, your project was a great example for the students and it really opens their eyes to the topics we teach. The scope and the experience gave valuable insight as to what they may be doing in the future. This site visit, that HCM organized, shows the committed your company
has to the future of our industry and your willingness to help educate our future project managers, estimators and site superintendents in Alberta. Your hospitality, wisdom, generosity and expertise is really appreciated by SAIT and myself. Please also extend a thank you to EllisDon, the general contractor, on the site and Brad Storey the site superintendent.

We all wish HCM and EllisDon good luck in the successful completion of this project and I have enclosed several pictures showing our students and few pictures from on-site.

Go LogoThe Georgetown South Project will provide infrastructure improvements to meet existing GO Transit ridership demand and future growth. It will also accommodate existing and future VIA Rail and CN freight train service as well as the new Union Pearson Express (formerly known as the Air Rail Link) between Union Station and Pearson International Airport.

At the Weston Tunnel, the GO rail corridor will be lowered from Lawrence Avenue to Weston Road, with a covered portion between King Street and Church Street. The corridor will ascend north of Church Street, returning to ground level before the Weston Road Bridge.

H. C. Matcon Inc. worked on the Weston Tunnel project as a sub-contractor to K. O. Constructors. In this role, they were responsible for the installation of 2 shoring walls of approximately 2,000 lineal metres of shoring with a maximum depth of approximately 13 metres. One of these walls was designed to support railway loading, with the installation being done adjacent to live tracks.

The work of this contract was required to be done in a very tight timeframe, and H. C. Matcon mobilized the necessary resources, including equipment, to complete the work to meet the overall schedule.
In addition to regular work hours, they also worked evenings and week-ends to assist the project when acceleration was required.

Their overall performance on the project was extremely good. They were very helpful when we had site
conditions which required changes to the design, and were very approachable in terms of ways and means to improve the schedule.

norcalI would like to thank HCM for the work on Airways Crossing.  It was done in a Extremely Professional way.  Jason Kaiser your Forman handled this job in a very professional manner.  Keeping me up to date with all paper work and safety.  He would let me know of any troubles that came up with the piling when we entered the area with water.  He was very well organized with all deliveries and this morning it is like he was not even here. The site was cleaned up well.  Thanks Brittany for all your work as well with design and pricing of this job it was great working with you as well.
